Weather, GREAT! Nice and cool, and the sun was only a little bit warmer, but not burning.
Bugs, TERRIBLE! O_O
So, today I decided it might be nice to go on a little trail ride and see how things go. So today I think I'll put everything into great detail about what happened. So I went into the pasture, and Jessie just stood there looking at me with two eyes, and pricked her ears, then put them back, and whenever I moved she'd prick them up again. So since she only walked a couple of steps towards me when I just stood there, I walked towards zone 4, not even looking at it, and she yielded very nicely, but her ears were back a bit, and she swung her head over gently to assume that I was going to halter her. So after a bit of friendly game, I haltered her, and she got a bit stiff? but then settled down again. So while I was grooming her, Molly came over wanting a rub, and after I shooed her off since she laid back her ears to Jessie, Glory came over to bug us because I guess we were in her way, so I shooed her away, and while I was tacking up English, I felt something bump into my shoulder, and stayed there. I turned, and it was Molly wanting a rub. She looked so sweet and cute, so I rubbed her, then turned her away gently, then she just hung around. So by then I finished tacking up, and I had Jessie on the 12ft line, I wanted to play with Jessie a bit to see how she was after her long break from the rain, etc. So I thought I might see how she responsive she was to the circling game first since I didn't have my CS. She would walk going clockwise, and then I turned her counter-clockwise, and I got a nice trot. So then I did some sqeeze then sideways, then sqeeze, then sideways, then I played a bit ofthe driving game, then some yo-yos, and I got her to be real light, and she was backing as phase 1! :-D So then I played with getting her to backup by the tail, which wasn't too good, but I she goes real well when we're backing down a slight slope instead of going up. How Interesting... So then I took her out, and I got on from some steps, and she really wanted to eat today. and she did get away with it when I was not prepared. So we got to the trails with no trouble, just a slight delay since the portable fence was up in the way of our usual spot to go out back, and we had a nice trail ride, but she spooked a couple of times when someone made movements from a ways away, but we got through that real easy, and she was back to herself within less than a second. So eating most of the way, but a nice ride altogether, then we went back, and I rode around some more there, with her really trying to get the grass, so by then my arms were tired from having the reins being pulled on, so I got off, gave her a Big hug, and went in the pasture, got two CS, got on from the stump, and tried getting her to go on the pathway out back without using my reins. That didn't work, and I had a little trouble getting her to go out back, but we got all the way to the spillway, where I took off her halter, and we rode back to the barn bridleless, and she was being very good about it. So I put the halter and one CS over the fenceline, and rode around a little bit just testing my CS riding, then I got off, unsaddled her, and I drove her to the stump where I got on, and we went B&B for a long while, and she was great. :-D We even trotted a little which was fun and good seeing as she doesn't like to trot down there. And Molly and Glory visited us wanting to be rubbed, so I did, then I got off since she pawed a little, and I thought she wanted to roll, and so I thought what the heck, I'll get down with her if she decides to roll. so dismounting from the rear, and I gave her another Big hug, then sat down on the ground for a while, and she licked her lips, and walked over to me, and we hung around, Glory bugging us, so I shooed her away with my CS, then Molly came over, and since she laid back her ears at Jessie I shooed her away too. So then after a little while more, Jessie just dozing, not interested in a roll in the dirt, so I got up, and played around with getting her to backup by the tail at liberty. It only took a little tug to get her to back up! And it was nice and snappy! :-D WHOOPPEE! That was really GREAT! So then I tried it again, and it was GREAT! So after a little bit of that, I left it at that, and then drove her to the fenceline near the door to the barn to get her a treat, and by the little time it took me to get a treat, Glory shows up, and wants to get Jessie's treat as usual. So I shoo her away, and Jessie follows me, and I sit on the stump, and I gave her the treat which she loved, then I let her and Glory lick my hands, then they went on their way, and I put everything away, then went in.
Later on I came back out, did chores, said goodnight, then went in.
Overall it was a GREAT day! :-D
